“I had no idea the saxophone could sound like that!” was the general consensus of the audience at Reynolds Plantation in Greensboro, GA, upon hearing the UGA saxophone studio in concert on February 5, 2015. In celebration of the saxophone, the studio entertained a select group of residents with a varied program that featured music by Jean-Baptiste Singelee, William Albright, Villa Lobos and Jean Matitia. Perhaps the most special part of the night was the Q&A with the audience as they asked thoughtful and engaging questions to the students and professor Connie Frigo. The questions ranged from, “Why did you decide to play the saxophone?” to “What makes a saxophone a saxophone?” A wonderful experience was had by all in attendance in what will surely be the first of many memorable performances at the Reynolds Plantation.
